The CQ Capras continue to sign quality local talent to strengthen the squad for 2015. The latest signing is Matt Minto, a quality half with NRL experience.
CQ Capras Coach Jason Hetherington is very excited to have a player of Minto’s quality back in town and ready to go.
“Matt is a very experienced half and he still has his best football ahead of him. At only 24 years of age he has won an Intrust Super Cup Title with Mackay and most recently played in the NSW Cup grand final for Newcastle. As a team the Capras can make some serious inroads in the competition next year with Matt steering the team around the park.”
“The football resume of Matt Minto is very impressive with stints at Penrith and the Bulldogs under 20 programs as well as his most recent season with Newcastle Knights in the NRL. The former St Brendan’s product still has his best football ahead of him and being able to play football for his home Region with the support of family locally will be an added bonus to our program”, said Hetherington.
Minto is just as excited as the coach, “Being able to play in my home town is terrific. I am looking forward to the challenge. The Capras have an impressive young squad and I am sure I can help them achieve the team goals next year”.
“I have a young family of my own now and Central Queensland is a great place for us to put down some roots and build for the future, “Minto added.
“I still have the dream of again playing in the NRL, being home gives me the chance to have the best of both work and footy life. “
